Abstract:

Mycotoxins are low-molecular-weight toxic compounds. Their occurrence patterns are difficult to predict, and the threats they pose to the health of cattle herds are characterized by concealment, accumulation and multi-target nature. Mycotoxin contamination poses a serious threat to animal health and livestock production. Long-term intake of feed contaminated with mycotoxins will seriously affect the health of cattle herds. The clinical symptoms include weight loss, slowed growth rate, reproductive disorders, suppressed immune system, decreased milk production and quality, etc., ultimately leading to significant decline in production performance and economic losses. This article reviews the hidden threats of mycotoxins to the health of cattle herds and summarizes the comprehensive prevention and control policies throughout the entire process from field production to feed feeding. Precise prevention and control plans need to be formulated for different mycotoxins and different physiological stages of animals. This study provides theoretical support and practical guidance for the continuous improvement of mycotoxin prevention and control strategies and the enhancement of detoxification techniques.
